Certain realities may reduce the efficacy of some sayings taken as nothing but the truth. For example, Beggars can’t be choosers. Truthfully, beggars have choices. We mean the choice of operational territory. When a beggar pegs down a space and marks it as his base, he will never brook any encroachment from another beggar.
Observably, you see a beggar intimidating another. Always with a forceful and harsh tone, he draws a line which his hapless fellow beggar should not cross. The anger packed into the threat could make a lion tremble.
Why does this beggar have this domineering attitude? He sees the space in that particular spot he occupies as lucrative – a high-yielding, profitable territory not to be shared with anybody. It’s his acquired and conquered business premises. Other beggars are barred.
Humanity at all levels is obsessed with ME. It should be ME. Must life be lived in this way? Can we at least make a space for the other person? You are grabbing everything, but your fellow man lacking everything could be a recipe for rumbles in society. Our different opinions could spark a healthy interaction.
